New Normal #8

New Normal was a contemporary independent zine series that emerged during the early 2020s, serving as a creative outlet for artists and writers to process the shifting social and cultural landscapes of the post-pandemic era. Issue #8, like its predecessors, focused on themes of domestic isolation and the reconfiguration of daily routines, utilizing a mix of lo-fi photography and handwritten essays to create a sense of intimacy and authenticity.

The design of the issue leaned heavily into minimalist, DIY aesthetics, favoring raw paper textures and stark black-and-white layouts. Produced as a limited run for a niche audience of zine enthusiasts, it was largely distributed through independent bookshops and artist-run presses. It was received by the underground art community as a poignant artifact of its time, valued primarily for its unfiltered tone and its commitment to tactile, physical media in an increasingly digitized world.
