Oltretomba Speciaal #36

Oltretomba Speciaal was a long-running Italian horror comic series published by Edizioni ErreGì starting in the early 1970s. This series, alongside titles like Terror and Zora la Vampira, was part of the 'fumetti neri' movement, which utilized small, pocket-sized formats to distribute provocative, gothic, and often eroticized horror stories to adult audiences at newsstands across Italy.

The series relied on a rotating team of anonymous or pseudonym-using artists and writers who adhered to the tropes of supernatural suspense and dark morality plays. Issue #36 reflects the established aesthetic of the time, featuring high-contrast black-and-white ink work intended to deliver quick, atmospheric thrills. These publications were rarely treated as archival objects at the time, but they have since become essential artifacts for collectors documenting the gritty, underground landscape of post-war Italian pulp publishing.
