Ouhi-sama wa Toubouchuu #1

Ouhi-sama wa Toubouchuu, known in English as The Queen is Running Away, began its serialization in the manga anthology Comic Zero-Sum. The series emerged within the landscape of contemporary josei and fantasy manga, catering to readers who enjoy themes of political intrigue blended with elements of romance and character-driven escapism. This debut volume serves to establish the premise of a royal protagonist navigating the challenges of fleeing her established station, a narrative archetype that resonated with audiences seeking stories of autonomy and transformation.

The character design and visual direction are hallmarks of the series' focus on expressive, stylized artistry common in the shoujo and josei demographics. By pairing intricate period-inspired attire with character-centric storytelling, the creative team aimed to ground the fantastical elements of the plot in the personal stakes of the heroine. Upon its release, the first volume was well-received by fans of the genre for its balance of lighthearted moments and the underlying tension of the queen's flight, effectively securing its place within the magazine's broader collection of serialized works.
