Our Fighting Forces #110

Our Fighting Forces number 110, published by DC Comics in 1967, belongs to the publisher's long-running war anthology series. During this era, DC focused heavily on military-themed titles that explored the human elements of combat, often moving beyond simple heroics to highlight the camaraderie and psychological toll faced by soldiers on the battlefield. This specific issue is noted for its involvement in the evolution of the series, which would later become the primary vehicle for Jack Kirby’s ambitious 'The Losers' run, though at this stage, it remained firmly within the traditional, episodic format common to DC's Silver Age war comics.

The creative direction of the series during the mid-sixties relied on a house style that emphasized accessible, dramatic storytelling and gritty but polished illustrative techniques. DC's war titles were overseen by long-time editor Robert Kanigher, who was instrumental in defining the tone of these books. By balancing suspenseful, mission-based narratives with character-driven moments, these issues aimed to satisfy a readership that appreciated a mix of historical adventure and moral struggle, leaving a lasting influence on how the genre was presented in American comic books for the decade that followed.
