Our Fighting Forces #170

Published by DC Comics in 1977, Our Fighting Forces #170 represents a pivotal transition in the long-running war anthology series. Following the departure of Jack Kirby, who famously chronicled the adventures of The Losers in the previous installments, this era of the series saw a shift in tone as DC looked to maintain interest in its military titles during a period when the genre was gradually losing its post-war dominance in the comic book market.

The issue features the creative work of writers and artists tasked with preserving the gritty, character-driven legacy established during the title's peak. The design and narrative approach aimed to ground the stories in a realistic portrayal of camaraderie under fire, leaning into the serialized, high-stakes storytelling that defined the Bronze Age of comics. While the series was eventually retired as reader tastes pivoted toward superheroes, it remains a respected artifact of DC’s mid-seventies editorial strategy.
