Perry Mason Mystery Magazine #2

Perry Mason Mystery Magazine was launched in the late 1950s by Davis Publications to capitalize on the immense cultural popularity of Erle Stanley Gardner's courtroom protagonist, whose fame was further cemented by the concurrent CBS television series. This second issue continued the publication's strategy of pairing Gardner's original fiction with short stories from other established mystery writers of the era, aiming to provide a portable, pulp-style reading experience that appealed to the growing audience for procedural and detective narratives.

The design of the magazine utilized the classic aesthetic of mid-century digest journals, featuring bold, evocative cover art intended to draw the eye on crowded newsstands. These publications were functional, inexpensive, and designed for broad consumption rather than archival permanence. While the magazine served as a successful extension of the Perry Mason brand, it eventually faded as consumer reading habits shifted away from digest-sized mystery fiction in the following decades.
