Povos Indígenas em Quadrinhos #1

Povos Indígenas em Quadrinhos #1 was published as part of a didactic initiative aimed at schools and cultural institutions to promote awareness and respect for the cultural diversity of Brazil's indigenous populations. Launched in the early 2010s by the publisher Nemo, the series was designed to bridge the gap between academic research and accessible media, utilizing the visual storytelling of comics to highlight the history and struggles of native peoples. The project was conceived as an educational tool to counter historical omissions in traditional textbooks.

The creative direction for this first issue focused on merging historical accuracy with a compelling narrative style to appeal to younger audiences. By commissioning artists and researchers familiar with indigenous narratives, the series sought to avoid common tropes and caricatures. While the series was received primarily within the pedagogical sphere as a valuable curriculum resource, it also gained recognition among comic enthusiasts for its commitment to social advocacy and the authentic representation of indigenous heritage in Brazilian literature.
