Power Girl #3

Power Girl #3, published in 2009, stands as a pivotal installment in the character's first self-titled ongoing series, which emerged from the creative momentum of the Justice Society of America run. Written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray with art by Amanda Conner, this series was designed to establish Kara Zor-L as a formidable hero operating independently in New York City. The creative team aimed to balance high-stakes superhero action with a grounded, character-driven narrative that emphasized the protagonist's wit and tenacity.

The visual language of the issue relies on Amanda Conner’s signature expressive style, which has been widely celebrated for its sense of humor and kinetic storytelling. By positioning Power Girl as both a powerful extraterrestrial force and a relatable civilian navigating corporate and social challenges, the series successfully resonated with readers who appreciated a lighter, more adventurous tone. The issue was well-received for its ability to honor the character's complex history while making her accessible to a new generation of comic enthusiasts.
