Power Girl #2

Power Girl #2 was published in 2009 as part of the character's first ongoing solo series, following her successful run in the Justice Society of America. This series was created during a period when the character had firmly established herself as a cornerstone of the DC Universe, and it sought to explore her identity independent of her complex multiversal origins. The creative team aimed to ground her in a modern setting while maintaining the assertive, no-nonsense persona that had become her hallmark since her introduction in the 1970s.

The issue features artwork by Amanda Conner, whose distinctive style is widely credited with defining the character's modern visual iteration. Conner emphasized a grounded, expressive approach to the character’s design, balancing her formidable physical power with relatable human moments. The series was met with significant critical acclaim, frequently praised for its balance of high-stakes superhero action and humorous character-driven storytelling, cementing this iteration as a definitive take on the Power Girl mantle.
