Power Pack #17

Power Pack #17 was published by Marvel Comics in 1985 as part of an innovative series created by writer Louise Simonson and artist June Brigman. The series followed four pre-teen siblings who gained superpowers from an alien race, and it was notable for its exploration of realistic childhood dilemmas amidst traditional superhero tropes. This specific issue features a crossover with the larger Marvel Universe, showcasing the team's ability to hold their own alongside established icons while maintaining the title's core themes of family loyalty and moral responsibility.

The art in this era of Power Pack is frequently lauded for its expressive, clean aesthetic, which contrasted with the grittier tone found in many other 1980s comics. Brigman's character designs were intended to make the protagonists feel like authentic children rather than miniature adults, and the series received significant critical acclaim for its grounded emotional arcs. It remains a hallmark of 1980s Marvel experimentation, representing a period where the publisher pushed the boundaries of age-appropriate narratives in the direct market.
