Secret Origins #1

Secret Origins #1 was published by DC Comics in 1973 as part of a series designed to provide definitive, updated accounts of the histories of various iconic characters. During this era, DC frequently sought to modernize or clarify the convoluted backstories of their Silver Age heroes to provide readers with a unified sense of continuity, often utilizing a mix of reprinted material and new framing sequences to anchor the narratives.

The issue featured work by prominent industry figures such as artist Nick Cardy and writers who helped solidify the lore of the DC Universe. The series was generally well-received by fans and collectors who appreciated the effort to organize decades of fragmented continuity into accessible, anthology-style volumes. The design focused on a classic comic aesthetic that prioritized clarity and narrative cohesion, which became a hallmark of DC’s approach to their character mythos throughout the 1970s.
