Where it came from
Secret Origins number two, published by DC Comics in 1973, was part of a short-lived series designed to revisit and retell the origin stories of established superheroes. In an era where comic history was being catalogued with increasing interest, this series provided readers with condensed, definitive accounts of characters who had debuted decades earlier, often updating their lore for a modern audience.
The issue featured stories focused on the Golden Age versions of the Flash and Green Lantern. The creative teams for these reprints sought to distill the essence of the original 1940s narratives while maintaining a sense of historical continuity. The book was received as a functional, nostalgic retrospective that helped bridge the gap between the burgeoning fan base of the 1970s and the roots of the DC universe.
