Secrets of Haunted House #17

Secrets of Haunted House was a long-running anthology series published by DC Comics, debuting in 1975 during a resurgence of interest in horror-themed comics. Issue number 17, released in the late 1970s, arrived during a period where DC utilized a 'host' format, featuring iconic supernatural narrators like Cain and Abel to tie together short, often ironic or morality-based tales of the macabre and paranormal.

The design and aesthetic of this issue reflect the house style of DC's late Bronze Age horror output, characterized by a mix of atmospheric cover art and interior illustrations from various freelance artists who balanced traditional gothic tropes with the company's specific brand of suspense. While individual contributors varied by story, the title was generally well-regarded by collectors for its commitment to the classic comic book horror tradition, serving as a staple for readers who enjoyed the eerie, episodic narratives that were a hallmark of the genre at that time.
