Secrets of Haunted House #29

Secrets of Haunted House #29 was published by DC Comics in 1980 as part of their long-running horror anthology series. During this era, DC was focused on reviving their supernatural titles, often utilizing host-narrator formats to guide readers through macabre tales. This issue reflects the late-Bronze Age style of storytelling, which moved away from the more restricted content of the Comics Code Authority earlier decades to embrace more psychological and atmospheric horror elements.

The issue features artwork and narrative contributions consistent with the house style of DC's mystery imprint, which frequently employed artists known for dramatic shadows and detailed line work to heighten the spooky tone. While the series was a staple of newsstand racks, it was aimed at a generation of readers who had grown up with classic E.C. Comics tropes, aiming to balance traditional campfire-style scares with the more sophisticated aesthetic favored by DC's editors at the time.
