Secrets of Haunted House #36

Secrets of Haunted House was a long-running horror anthology series published by DC Comics during the 1970s and early 1980s. Issue number 36, released in 1981, fits within the Bronze Age of comics, a period defined by a move toward more psychological and mature themes following the loosening of the Comics Code Authority restrictions. The series utilized a rotating group of hosts, typically featuring the trio of Abel, Cain, and Destiny, who introduced stories that balanced macabre humor with unsettling supernatural narratives.

The art and editorial direction for this period were overseen by DC's seasoned stable of creators, with the cover and interior panels often employing the high-contrast ink work characteristic of the era's horror output. These books were designed as inexpensive newsstand items intended to capture the imagination of teenagers and young adults who sought the suspense of classic campfire tales. While the series was eventually discontinued as the horror market shifted, it remains a notable example of DC's efforts to maintain the legacy of their iconic mystery and suspense titles.
