Something is Killing the Children #46

Something is Killing the Children #46 continues the dark, atmospheric horror saga created by writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell'Edera, published by BOOM! Studios. Launched in 2019, the series centers on Erica Slaughter, a monster hunter who navigates a world where only children can see the grotesque creatures preying upon their peers. This issue contributes to the ongoing expansion of the series' lore, maintaining the signature aesthetic established by Dell'Edera, which relies on high-contrast shadows and visceral, unsettling creature designs to ground the supernatural narrative in a gritty, realistic setting.

The series was conceived during a period of rising interest in creator-owned horror comics, and its immediate critical and commercial success elevated Tynion and Dell'Edera to prominent status in the industry. The design philosophy for each issue focuses on building tension and maintaining a sense of constant, pervasive dread. By the time of the forty-sixth issue, the creative team had solidified a distinct visual identity characterized by expressive character work and a muted, ominous color palette that distinguishes the title from mainstream superhero offerings.
