Strikeforce: Morituri #15

Strikeforce: Morituri #15, published by Marvel Comics in 1988, sits within a series conceived by Peter B. Gillis and Brent Anderson. The narrative premise centers on a near-future earth where humanity develops a method to grant volunteers superpowers to fight an alien occupation, with the fatal drawback that the process guarantees the recruit's death within a year. This specific issue continues the series' exploration of the psychological toll on these fated heroes as they navigate impending mortality.

The art and thematic direction of the series were notable for their darker, character-driven tone, which stood in contrast to many mainstream superhero titles of the late eighties. The creative team aimed to blend high-stakes science fiction with intimate, often tragic human drama. Upon its release, the series garnered a dedicated cult following, appreciated for its willingness to embrace permanent consequences and emotional gravity within the established Marvel universe.
