The Ice Guy & the Cool Girl #5

The Ice Guy and the Cool Girl, known in Japan as Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi, began as a viral social media manga series by Miyuki Tonogaya. This fifth volume continues the episodic workplace romantic comedy centered on Himuro, a descendant of a snow spirit, and Fuyutsuki, his stoic and kind-hearted colleague. Tonogaya’s character design emphasizes the contrast between Himuro’s icy, supernatural reactions to his own emotions and the grounded, human warmth provided by Fuyutsuki, creating a visual shorthand for their developing professional and personal bond.

The series gained significant traction on platforms like Pixiv and Twitter before being serialized through Square Enix’s Gangan Pixiv platform. As the narrative progressed toward the fifth installment, the design language maintained its hallmark pastel-toned aesthetic and gentle humor. The manga has been well-received for its low-stakes, comforting tone, eventually leading to a successful anime adaptation that brought Tonogaya's character work to a wider international audience, cementing the series as a popular entry in the modern office-romance genre.
