The Occult Files Of Dr. Spektor #1

The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #1 was published in 1973 by Gold Key Comics during a period when the publisher was expanding its portfolio beyond licensed properties into original supernatural horror and adventure stories. Created by writer Donald F. Glut and artist Dan Spiegle, the series introduced Adam Spektor, an occult investigator modeled after archetypal paranormal detectives of the era, reflecting the 1970s cultural fascination with the supernatural, gothic mystery, and pulp-inspired heroes.

Dan Spiegle’s illustrations were noted for their clean, cinematic lines, which provided a grounded aesthetic that contrasted with the more stylized, exaggerated horror comics produced by competitors like Warren Publishing. The character was designed to operate within a world of genuine magic and folklore, and the series was generally received as a competent, atmospheric addition to the Bronze Age of comics, balancing traditional adventure tropes with episodic investigations into the macabre.
