The Occult Files Of Dr. Spektor #12

Published by Gold Key Comics in 1974, The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor #12 arrived during a period when the horror genre was experiencing a significant resurgence in American comic books. Created by writer Donald F. Glut and artist Dan Spiegle, the series centered on Adam Spektor, a globetrotting occult investigator tasked with handling supernatural threats. This specific issue reflects the editorial direction of the era, which often balanced atmospheric storytelling with the limitations of the Comics Code Authority, maintaining a tone that was spooky yet accessible to a general audience.

Dan Spiegle’s illustrations for the series are frequently praised for their clean, descriptive linework, which provided a grounding influence against the more fantastic elements of the scripts. The design of the title and the cover art were intended to evoke the classic pulp magazine aesthetic, appealing to fans of both detective mysteries and supernatural folklore. While the series did not reach the same pop-culture saturation as some contemporary horror anthologies, it remains a respected example of 1970s Gold Key output, noted for its consistent character development and creative monster designs.
