The Pink Panther #20

The Pink Panther comic series, published by Gold Key Comics, emerged during the mid-1970s to capitalize on the immense popularity of the animated character introduced in the 1963 film's opening credits. This specific issue, number 20, was released in the late 1970s, a period when the character had transitioned from a theatrical novelty into a staple of Saturday morning television animation.

The creative direction for these comics focused on translating the silent, slapstick pantomime of the film shorts into a static, printed medium. The art often relied on expressive character poses and gag-heavy visual narratives, mirroring the tone of the DePatie-Freleng Enterprises cartoons. While these issues were primarily viewed as lighthearted children's fare, they remain significant today as artifacts of the broader 1970s push to expand iconic film intellectual properties into the comic book market.
