The Pink Panther #24

The Pink Panther #24 was published by Gold Key Comics in 1977, emerging during a period when the character had transitioned from a successful cinematic mascot into a staple of Saturday morning television. Gold Key held the license for the franchise for several years, utilizing the comic medium to expand upon the whimsical, silent antics established by Friz Freleng and Blake Edwards. The series was designed to appeal to younger audiences by translating the visual gags of the theatrical shorts into a static, printed format.

The creative direction for these issues generally leaned into the slapstick nature of the panther's encounters with the Little Man. While the covers and interior art for this period were often produced by anonymous studio teams under the Gold Key house style, they were crafted to maintain the sleek, minimalist aesthetic that defined the character’s design. Upon release, the issue served as a standard entry in a vast line of licensed Gold Key comics, valued primarily for its accessibility and consistency with the animated source material rather than as a medium-defining experiment.
