The Pink Panther #52

The Pink Panther comic series, published by Gold Key Comics during the 1970s and early 1980s, was designed to capitalize on the immense popularity of the animated segments from the Blake Edwards film franchise. Issue #52 arrived during the later years of the series' run, a period when the character had firmly established himself as a fixture in American pop culture through long-running Saturday morning television slots and newspaper strips.

The visual direction for the Gold Key issues typically emphasized simple, gag-driven narratives that mirrored the silent, slapstick nature of the onscreen animation. While the creative teams often rotated, the series remained consistent in its aesthetic, utilizing vibrant, flat color palettes and character models that adhered strictly to the DePatie-Freleng Enterprises style guide to ensure the product was instantly recognizable to young readers at newsstands.
