The Sensational She-Hulk #48

Published in February 1993, The Sensational She-Hulk #48 stands as a notable installment in a series defined by its meta-fictional humor and satirical tone. Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1980, the character Jennifer Walters had evolved under writer and artist John Byrne into a self-aware protagonist who frequently broke the fourth wall. By the time this issue was released, the title had established a reputation for subverting standard superhero tropes, often critiquing the conventions of the comic book industry itself.

The issue features artwork by Bryan Hitch and a script by Michael Eury, continuing the book's signature playful aesthetic. During this period, the series was characterized by its irreverent approach to storytelling, allowing for creative experimentation that distinguished it from more traditional Marvel titles. While it did not achieve the mainstream longevity of primary X-Men or Avengers titles, it remains a cult favorite among collectors for its distinct, lighthearted contributions to the character's long-term legacy.
