Ultimate Spider-Man #111

Ultimate Spider-Man #111 was published in 2007 as part of the long-running Ultimate Marvel imprint, which reimagined classic superheroes for a contemporary audience. This specific issue falls within the 'Death of a Goblin' arc, a pivotal storyline that explored the dark, volatile consequences of Norman Osborn's transformation and his intense psychological hold over Peter Parker. By this stage in the series, Brian Michael Bendis had firmly established a grounded, cinematic tone that prioritized character-driven drama alongside the action expected of the Spider-Man mythos.

The interior art for this issue was provided by Mark Bagley, whose collaboration with Bendis defined the aesthetic of the Ultimate universe for years. Bagley was noted for his fluid, dynamic layouts and an expressive style that captured the adolescent anxieties of Peter Parker with notable consistency. Upon its release, the issue was received as a key installment in the series' ongoing effort to modernize the foundational elements of the Spider-Man lore, maintaining the popularity of the Ultimate brand during a time when Marvel was successfully expanding its reach to new readers.
