Ultimate Spider-Man #116

Ultimate Spider-Man #116 was published in 2008 as part of the broader Ultimate Marvel imprint, an initiative launched in the early 2000s to modernize classic characters for a new generation of readers. This specific issue falls within the 'Death of a Goblin' arc, a pivotal storyline that explored the tragic and often volatile relationship between Peter Parker and Norman Osborn within the updated continuity. The series served as a primary anchor for the Ultimate Universe, focusing on high-stakes drama and more contemporary, cinematic pacing.

The issue features art by Stuart Immonen, who succeeded Mark Bagley as the series' regular penciler, bringing a cleaner, more fluid aesthetic that helped redefine the look of the book during this period. Written by Brian Michael Bendis, the narrative was aimed at maintaining the momentum of the long-running series while providing grounded, character-driven stakes. The book was generally well-received by fans and critics of the era for its ability to balance legacy character beats with the heightened, often darker tone characteristic of the Ultimate line.
