Ultimate X-Men #62

Ultimate X-Men #62, released in 2006, serves as part of the 'Magnetic North' story arc within Marvel Comics' Ultimate Universe. This imprint was established in the early 2000s to modernize and reinterpret classic superhero origins and narratives for a contemporary audience, removing decades of dense continuity. The issue specifically explores the aftermath of Magneto's failed uprising, placing the young X-Men in a precarious geopolitical position as they deal with the fallout of being outed to the world.

The issue was written by Mike Carey and illustrated by Salvador Larroca, whose realistic, cinematic aesthetic defined much of the visual language for this iteration of the team. The creative direction for the series aimed for a darker, more grounded tone compared to the mainstream X-Men titles of the era. The book was generally well-received by readers for its focus on character development and the tense, morally complex dynamics inherent in the Ultimate version of Professor Xavier's school.
