Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #94

Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker issue number 94 was published by Dell Comics in 1961. Part of a long-running series that began in the 1940s, this issue captures the mid-century peak of Woody Woodpecker's popularity, a character originally created by Walter Lantz in 1940. The comic served as a vital extension of the animated shorts, maintaining the frenetic, slapstick energy that defined the character across different media platforms during the Golden Age of animation.

The comic book series relied on a stable of talented writers and artists employed by Western Printing and Lithographing Company, which produced comics for Dell. The visual style typically adhered to the 'Funny Animal' aesthetic characterized by clean lines and expressive character poses intended to appeal to a wide demographic of young readers. While individual authorship for specific issues in this run is often uncredited in line with the era's house-style conventions, the series is widely regarded for its successful translation of film gags into the static panel format.
