Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #92

Woody Woodpecker #92 was published in the early 1960s as part of the long-running Dell Comics series, which adapted the anarchic energy of Walter Lantz's theatrical animation shorts for a print audience. During this era, Dell maintained a productive partnership with Lantz, focusing on lighthearted, episodic adventures that relied on the recognizable slapstick dynamic between the mischievous woodpecker and his recurring foils like Buzz Buzzard or Wally Walrus.

The interior artwork for these Dell issues was typically handled by an assembly of studio artists and freelancers tasked with translating fluid animation frames into static comic panels. While the series often prioritized accessible storytelling for younger readers, the design work captured the distinct, frantic personality of the character. These issues were received as staples of the post-war newsstand era, contributing to the broader pop culture saturation of the character before the titles eventually transitioned to Gold Key Comics.
