Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #93

Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #93 was published by Dell Comics in 1961 as part of their long-running Four Color anthology series and subsequent standalone title. During this period, Dell held the license for many popular animated properties, adapting the frenetic energy of the theatrical cartoons into a format suitable for the domestic comic market. The series served as a primary vehicle for maintaining the character's relevance in the shifting landscape of mid-century pop culture.

The interior art for the Dell and later Gold Key issues of this series often utilized house-style illustrative techniques consistent with the studio's animation models. While the scripts frequently leaned into the slapstick motifs established by Ben Hardaway and the animation team, the comic book incarnation sought to translate these visual gags into panel-based storytelling. The issue reflects the standard industry approach of the era, prioritizing accessible, lighthearted narratives that appealed to younger readers while leveraging the established visual identity of the Walter Lantz character.
