Where it came from
The X-Men '97: Strike Files Infinity Comic series was commissioned by Marvel to serve as a digital-first companion to the 2024 animated revival of the 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series. Designed for the vertical-scrolling format of the Marvel Unlimited platform, these issues were created to provide deep-dive character profiles, tactical data, and historical context that bridges the gap between the original show's lore and the modern continuation.
This specific issue, part of an anthology-style series, reflects a design philosophy centered on technical accessibility and visual consistency with the '97 animation style. Produced by a rotating team of creators tasked with maintaining the retro-future aesthetic of the series, the publication was received as a curated supplement for long-time fans seeking to catalog the evolving power sets and personal histories of the X-Men team within the new series' continuity.
