Where it came from
Butch T. Cougar, the official mascot of Washington State University, was immortalized as a Funko Pop figure as part of the Pop! College series. Released to celebrate the deep-rooted collegiate spirit of the WSU Cougars, this figure captures the mascot in his signature crimson and gray athletic uniform, reflecting the design established for the character who has been a staple of campus life since the 1920s.
The figure was produced as part of Funko's wider effort to bridge the gap between pop culture collectibles and university sports loyalty. Designed with the brand's iconic oversized head and stylized aesthetic, the figurine aims to provide alumni and students with a tangible piece of memorabilia. Upon release, it was well-received by the WSU community, serving as a popular desk display for fans of the Pac-12 athletic program.
