Where it came from
The Clown with the Tear-Away Face was released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney series in 2017, representing the 1993 stop-motion classic The Nightmare Before Christmas. The figure was produced to celebrate the film's enduring cultural footprint, capturing one of the more unsettling residents of Halloween Town known for his ability to cycle through different facial expressions.
The design of this Pop! figure focuses on the character's distinct aesthetic, characterized by his polka-dot suit, oversized top hat, and the unsettling, cyclopean appearance of his mask. Like much of the Nightmare Before Christmas line, the figure aims to balance Funko's signature stylized vinyl aesthetic with the dark, whimsical gothic sensibilities originally established by Tim Burton and the film's production designers.
