Where it came from
Lock, one of the mischievous trio from Tim Burton's 1993 stop-motion classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, was released as part of Funko's Pop! Disney series under number 406. This figure depicts the character in his iconic devil mask and red robe, capturing the distinct aesthetic of the film's character designer, Rick Heinrichs. The line was produced to commemorate the enduring legacy of the film, which transitioned from a cult classic to a staple of holiday pop culture iconography.
The design of the figure focuses on translating the gothic, spindly proportions of Henry Selick's animation into the signature oversized-head style of the Funko brand. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who sought to complete the 'Oogie's Boys' set alongside Shock and Barrel. The figure remains a recognized piece within the expansive Nightmare Before Christmas collection, reflecting the widespread popularity of the movie's eccentric antagonist ensemble.
