Where it came from
Fat Amy, identified as number 222 in the Pop! Movies series, was produced by Funko as part of their merchandise tie-in for the musical comedy film Pitch Perfect 2, released in 2015. The figure captures the character's signature bold persona and casual aesthetic, reflecting the brand's commitment to translating recognizable cinematic figures into its stylized, vinyl aesthetic characterized by large heads and simple, fixed poses.
The design of this piece adheres to the standard Funko Pop construction, emphasizing a balance between the actor's likeness and the company's simplified visual language. During the mid-2010s, Funko experienced a significant surge in popularity as collectors increasingly sought out representations of modern cult-classic characters, and the Pitch Perfect line was received as a lighthearted expansion of their growing catalog of pop culture icons.
