Gambit with Cards (Glow in the Dark)

Released as part of the Marvel Pop! line in 2019, this figure commemorates the character Gambit, the kinetic-energy-wielding mutant introduced by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990. As a member of the X-Men, Gambit quickly became a staple of nineties comic culture, known for his signature trench coat, glowing eyes, and throwing cards. Funko designed this specific variant as a 'Glow in the Dark' exclusive, aiming to capture the character's signature visual aesthetic where his charged kinetic cards emit a distinct, energetic light.

The figure reflects the broader design philosophy of the Pop! Marvel series, which standardizes complex comic book designs into a uniform, oversized-head silhouette. By emphasizing his classic purple and tan suit alongside his playing cards, the design leans heavily into the nostalgia of the X-Men animated series era. Collectors and fans of the X-Men franchise generally receive these variants well as they serve as accessible, stylized homages to the character's debut design.
