Where it came from
The Hammerhead Pop! figure is part of the initial wave of the Star Wars collection produced by Funko, which launched in 2015 to bridge the gap between classic cinema iconography and modern vinyl toy culture. Hammerhead, whose character name in the original 1977 film is Momaw Nadon, was one of the many memorable cantina patrons that populated the Mos Eisley sequence, chosen by Funko to appeal to fans of the deeper, more eclectic lore of A New Hope.
The design of the figure translates the character’s distinct, elongated cranium and Ithorian features into Funko’s signature oversized-head, black-eyed aesthetic. By stripping back the complex latex-mask textures of the original film prop, the illustrators leaned into the charm of the character’s unique silhouette. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who appreciated the brand's commitment to representing both major protagonists and the peripheral background aliens that defined the Star Wars universe.
