Where it came from
Hammerhead, designated as pop number 37 in the Star Wars Funko line, represents the character Momaw Nadon, an Ithorian seen briefly in the Mos Eisley cantina in the 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope. The figure was released as part of Funko's initial wave of Star Wars stylized vinyl collectibles, which aimed to translate iconic background aliens and major protagonists into the company’s signature chibi-inspired aesthetic.
The design emphasizes the distinct, hammer-shaped head and long, curved neck characteristic of the Ithorian species, rendered with the simplified features and large, circular black eyes standard to the Pop! format. As one of the earlier releases in the series, the figure is noted among collectors for its focus on characters from the original trilogy, reflecting a design philosophy that favored nostalgic deep-cuts from the film's ensemble cast over solely focusing on lead characters.
