Kuchisake (Bloody)

The Kuchisake-onna, or slit-mouthed woman, is a prominent figure in modern Japanese urban legends, traditionally depicted as a vengeful spirit wearing a surgical mask to hide her disfigured face. This Funko Pop! figure, released as part of the Pop! Asia series, captures the character's terrifying mythology, specifically referencing the moment she reveals her wounds to her victims. The design leans into the uncanny valley, pairing the iconic Funko aesthetic with the macabre elements central to the ghost story.

Part of the Legendary Creatures & Myths collection, the Kuchisake figure was produced to broaden the scope of the Pop! Asia line, which frequently highlights folklore and regional cultural phenomena. By translating a figure of Japanese horror into a collectible vinyl format, Funko aimed to bridge the gap between traditional cultural motifs and contemporary pop-culture merchandise. The piece is generally received by collectors as a notable entry for its focus on international supernatural folklore rather than licensed cinematic properties.
