Where it came from
The Kuchisake-onna, or slit-mouthed woman, is a prominent figure in modern Japanese urban legends, traditionally depicted as a vengeful spirit wearing a surgical mask who asks her victims if they find her beautiful. This Pop! figure was released as part of the Pop! Asia series, a line dedicated to capturing cultural icons and folklore from across the Asian continent, representing the franchise's endeavor to bridge global pop culture with regional myths.
The figure design follows the standardized Funko aesthetic, featuring the character's signature oversized head and simplified features while incorporating specific thematic elements such as her mask and oversized scissors. The item was well-received by collectors of the Pop! Asia line, who appreciated the stylized interpretation of such a macabre and historically significant figure in Japanese folk horror.
