Where it came from
The Siyokoy figure, part of the Pop! Asia series under the Legendary Creatures & Myths banner, represents the Philippine mythological merman. Introduced to expand the brand's exploration of global folklore, the line sought to bring localized legends to a broader international audience through the familiar, stylized vinyl aesthetic. The orange colorway serves as a distinct variant, emphasizing the creature's aquatic and often bioluminescent depiction in regional storytelling.
The design follows the characteristic Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and simplified proportions synonymous with the brand. It was crafted to honor the Siyokoy’s presence in Filipino aquatic lore, where these beings are traditionally depicted as guardians or dangerous dwellers of the deep. While the figure is a contemporary reimagining, it reflects a broader industry movement to diversify collectible lines by highlighting specific cultural myths, finding a dedicated niche among collectors interested in international folklore.
