Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! VHS Covers line, the Kuzco figure pays homage to the 2000 Disney animated film The Emperor's New Groove. The series is designed to celebrate iconic cinema by pairing a standard-sized vinyl figure with a decorative backdrop that mimics the aesthetic of original VHS clamshell packaging, bridging the gap between modern toy collecting and 1990s home media nostalgia.
The figure captures Kuzco in his signature royal attire, reflecting the character's flamboyant personality and the film's distinct visual style. Designed by the Funko creative team, the aesthetic intentionally leans into the comedic, angular animation style championed by the original film's artists. Upon release, the series was received warmly by Disney animation fans who appreciated the nostalgic framing, which serves more as a display piece for shelf-conscious collectors than a plaything.
