Where it came from
The Lemon Sour Patch Kid figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Candy line, which sought to bring iconic confectionery mascots into the stylized, vinyl aesthetic of the Pop! brand. These figures were produced to appeal to both nostalgia-driven adults and younger fans of the sour candy brand, capturing the mischievous expression of the familiar anthropomorphic sugar-dusted gummy.
The design follows the standard Funko template, featuring the oversized head and minimalist features characteristic of the series, while specifically highlighting the bright yellow hue and squinting eyes of the yellow variety of Sour Patch Kid. Like other entries in the Candy series, it was intended to serve as a collectible shelf display, reflecting the broader marketing strategy of Funko to license popular consumer goods as a way of diversifying their massive portfolio of pop culture characters.
