Where it came from
The Funko Pop! Lex Luthor, designated number 62, was released as part of the DC Super Heroes line during the company's early expansion phase in the mid-2010s. It was designed to capture the classic comic book aesthetic of the Superman antagonist, emphasizing his iconic purple and green power suit. This iteration represents the shift in Funko's strategy to include high-profile comic book villains to complement the growing roster of Justice League heroes.
The figure was created using the standard Funko 'Pop!' stylized aesthetic, characterized by a large head, simplified features, and a compact, chibi-inspired body. It was designed by the Funko internal team to bridge the gap between niche collector audiences and general pop-culture enthusiasts. Upon release, the item became a staple for DC Comics collectors, recognized for its faithful color palette and its role in establishing the DC series as a cornerstone of the Funko brand.
