Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, this metallic variant of Pennywise (number 475) was produced specifically as a retail exclusive for Hot Topic. Based on the 2017 film adaptation of Stephen King's 'It', the figure depicts the character in his modernized cinematic costume, holding his signature red balloon. The metallic finish was a recurring design choice for Funko exclusives during this era, intended to add a premium, collectible sheen to standard sculpts.
The design draws directly from the 2017 character aesthetic developed by costume designer Janie Bryant, who reimagined the clown's look to evoke various historical eras. Funko's adaptation translates these intricate details into their characteristic vinyl aesthetic, prioritizing the recognizable silhouette and iconic color palette. Upon release, the figure was well-received by horror enthusiasts and collectors who favored the stylized, reflective treatment of the popular antagonist over the standard matte finish.
