Where it came from
Pompompurin, the golden retriever character created by Sanrio in 1996, was designed to embody a laid-back, pudding-loving persona that resonated with the brand's focus on 'kawaii' culture. The character quickly became a mainstay in the Hello Kitty and Friends universe, celebrated for his signature brown beret and his cheerful, relaxed disposition, which served as a softer counterpoint to the more active Sanrio mascots of the 1990s.
This Funko Pop! figure, numbered 68 within the Sanrio series, translates the character's rounded, approachable design into the stylized vinyl aesthetic characteristic of the Pop! line. Released as part of Funko's ongoing collaboration with Sanrio, the figure was designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the character and collectors of Japanese pop culture merchandise, reflecting the character's enduring status as a staple of global character goods.
