Where it came from
The Psycho Pop! figure was released as part of the initial wave of the Borderlands series within the Pop! Games line. Designed to capture the iconic aesthetic of the bandit enemies from the Gearbox Software franchise, the figure features the character's signature orange mask, buzz axe, and tattered clothing. It was created to celebrate the visual style of the first two games, emphasizing the gritty, cel-shaded art direction that defined the series.
The design process focused on translating the chaotic energy of the Psycho, a recurring enemy archetype known for its frantic behavior and distinct attire. By standardizing these elements into the recognizable Funko vinyl form, the figure appealed to fans of the looter-shooter genre. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by the gaming community for its fidelity to the source material and its role as an accessible entry-level collectible for players of the Borderlands franchise.
