Ronald Mcdonald

Ronald McDonald, number 85 in the Funko Pop! Ad Icons series, was introduced as part of the company's efforts to celebrate iconic corporate mascots from mid-century American advertising history. The character itself originated in 1963 as a whimsical persona intended to appeal to children and families, quickly becoming the central figure of the McDonald's brand identity. Funko designed this figure to mirror the clown's classic attire, including the signature yellow jumpsuit, red hair, and oversized red shoes, capturing the stylized, exaggerated aesthetic typical of the brand's vinyl collectibles.

The figure was released amidst a broader cultural resurgence of interest in vintage advertising mascots, which Funko tapped into by creating the Ad Icons line. This series was met with significant enthusiasm from collectors of both McDonald's memorabilia and vinyl pop-culture figures. By condensing the complex history of a global corporate icon into a stylized, uniform mold, the designers aimed to evoke nostalgia while maintaining the recognizable, cheerful expression that has characterized the clown since his inception.
