Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney Villains series, this figure depicts Scar from the 1994 animated classic The Lion King. The item emerged during a period of sustained interest in stylized vinyl collectibles, specifically targeting adult collectors who grew up during the Disney Renaissance. The design seeks to capture the character's signature sneer and lanky build, translating his hand-drawn features into the simplified, oversized-head aesthetic characteristic of the Funko brand.
The figure draws its visual cues from the villain’s iconic appearance in the film, characterized by his dark mane and distinctive facial scar. It was produced as a mass-market collectible, intended to serve as a desktop display piece for fans of the franchise. Upon release, it was well-received within the collector community, which often prizes figures representing classic cinematic antagonists, and it stands as a standard representation of the character within the extensive Disney Pop! catalog.
