Where it came from
Released in 2021 as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series, this figure honors the legacy of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the iconic Tejano music superstar. The figure depicts Selena in her famous 1995 Astrodome concert outfit, complete with her signature purple jumpsuit. This specific 'Diamond Glitter' edition serves as a variant of the original sculpt, applying a shimmering finish to the purple material to evoke the sparkle of the original stage attire.
The design process focused on capturing Selena's most recognizable visual era, blending Funko’s stylized, large-headed aesthetic with the distinct glamour of the late Tejano legend. The figurine was produced with the cooperation of the Quintanilla family to ensure the likeness respected her cultural impact. Upon release, it was met with significant enthusiasm from fans and collectors, quickly becoming a centerpiece for those celebrating the enduring influence of the 'Queen of Tejano Music' on fashion and pop culture.
